Creating a Document Type

In order to create a Document Type we click the Settings icon from Umbraco’s menu which is located on the left side of the page.

A list with all the options in the settings panel will appear.

The last option is the Document Types. We right click on the Document Types option and a list of commands will appear on the screen.

From the list of commands we click on the Create command. The Create form will appear on the screen.

We type a name "HomePage" for the new Document Type in the Name textbox. We make sure that the Create matching template is checked so that a template will be created for our Document type. We will not explain how the templates work at the moment. Finally we click the Create button so that we will create the new Document Type. The new Document Type will appear under the Document Types folder and the tabs settings of the new document type will appear on the screen.
